For me, CHJCreations.rugz was never just about tufting. It became a way to take a blank canvas and turn an idea into art: something bold enough to change a room and personal enough to mean something to the person who owns it.

I wanted to make pieces that feel different. Not mass-produced. Not something you scroll past and forget. One-of-one pieces with their own identity. Pieces that can live on a floor, on a wall, in a business, in a collection or right in the middle of a conversation.

And there is something bigger behind that. I'm building something of my own: something my family can look at and know was built from an idea, a lot of work and a refusal to make ordinary things. Every rug is another step in that story.

That's why I keep pushing what tufting can do: portraits, branding, illustration, statement pieces, experimental textures and designs that keep moving the craft somewhere new. I want someone to walk into a space, stop, look twice and ask, “Where did you get that?”

I'm proud that this work is being made in South Africa. CHJM is my way of showing what local creativity, craftsmanship and imagination can become when you give an idea the room to grow.
